What do Archaelogists Do?

Archaeologists investigate the historic landscape, interpret the findings and then take the appropriate action to preserve this landscape. They employ a variety of techniques, including surveys both above and below ground.

When might you need an Archaeological Survey?

If you are carrying out any development on a property that is in an area of Historic Importance, you need to have an Archaeological Survey carried out.  This could take the form of a Geophysical Survey.  This will show any Archaeological features below the surface and will determine if a full below ground survey or excavation is necessary.

Who can carry out an Archaeological Survey?

Archaeological Surveys are usually only carried out by qualified Archaeologists, although some Surveyors may also carry out limited non invasive above ground surveys. Further information about Standards and Guidelines for Archaeologists can be found on the Chartered Institute of Archaeologists website

Filling in the form above will give you a set of contact details from Specialists who specialise in Archaeological Surveys. You will be able to make direct contact with these experts to discuss your requirement in more detail. Before appointing a supplier and placing an order you should ensure yourself that your chosen supplier has satisfactory qualifications, accreditation, experience and insurance to provide the level of service that you require.

Are you an Archaeologist?

If you are an Archaeologist and you would like to list your services on our wesbite, please fill out our Registration Form, and we will set you up with a free trial.

What do our Customers say about our Suppliers?

We ask all of the users of our website to give us feedback on our website and on any of the Suppliers they used.  Here are some of their comments:

The website operated well and Bob Bennett came and gave me advice which is being followed up by a second visit with a view to proceed with remedial work. So far, so good. Thankyou.
Jacqueline, Fareham, Hampshire
Oh, I didn't mention how pleased I was with your service. I found you through your google ad. It was just what I needed to get a survey done at short notice. Adding a request for a quick turnaround meant I could immediately see who had actually read my request rather just a stock reply and who was available.
The web site worked well. Several companies quoted , a great example of transparent competition driving prices down to the benefit of consumers. The other criteria I used in making my decision were whether the firm was local or a national chain and any testimonials. This is a great service.
Alistair, Barnes
I found your service very good , would use it again and reccomend you. thankyou for your assistance in this matter.
Brian, March, Cambridgeshire
Very good site – “it did what it said on the tin” – I currently live in France and have been away from the UK for 9 years but am returning now and in that time I have lost track of how things work etc. Your site was fabulous, and also very easy to use
