Ecology Surveys for Planning Applications

We all know the importance of protecting the environment especially regarding species of plants and animals that may be in decline;   The environment also needs to be taken into consideration whenever a planning application is made for a new building or to change the use of an existing building;   Are there likely to be any implications to the plant and animal life in the local area? You may need to commission an Ecological Survey to identify any special requirements.

Types of Ecology Survey

There are many different types of surveys that can be performed, and this needs to be discussed in greater detail with the company selected to carry out the Ecological survey; For example there are many protected species under the Wildlife and Countryside Act and you may wish to commission a protected species survey, or a survey of a site for species and habitats.

Examples of these include;

Great Crested Newt Surveys; Dormouse Surveys; Invertebrate Surveys; Reptile Surveys; Amphibian Surveys; Water Vole Surveys; Otter Surveys; Bat Surveys; Badger sett and signs Survey;

Depending on the nature of your Development, you may also need to consider BREEAM assessments and Code for Sustainable Homes ecology reports.

If you have a possible problem with Japanese Knotweed or other weeds then you may wish to commission an Invasive Weed Survey.

Feedback

Some of the feedback from customers who have used Local Surveyors Direct can be seen below:

Promptness of response : A call the same day, an email to follow up immediately after the call. Quality of service : A survey within a week of speaking, the report within 36 hours of the survey being carried out. Value for money : The price paid was very fair - not the cheapest but by far not the most expensive. Professionalism : Kim was a pleasure to deal with.
Kate, West Molesley
Promptness of response : He called me within a couple of hours. Quality of service : He discussed what might be needed and offered a flexible solution to my problem. He charged me for the initial visit and provided calculations and advised me that it may be enough for approval, but if not, we could progress to a further more detailed survey if necessary. Value for money : By doing this in stages I only needed to pay for the first stage, which proved to be acceptable. Professionalism : My trust in this surveyor was rewarded and he provided a professional and helpful service when I was unable to be at the property. The whole worrying (for me) situation was dealt with quickly and professionally and I would definitely recommend this company to anyone.
Susan, Erith
