Posted on website for structural engineers and initially received 3 straight away. I was able to see reviews for them before making the decision to go with the one chosen. Quick response from website. David contacted me a few days by phone after I posted on the website. We discussed the issue I had with my floor and he gave me a few reasons that could be the cause of the problem. He asked me to carry out a few tasks first to see whether it warranted him attending the property which I appreciated as no one wants a wasted journey or pay for an issue that could have been identified easily without the need for an expert. It turned that I did need David to attend the property. He followed COVID 19 guidelines and wore a mask and kept social distance. He explained things clearly and in a way that i understood which was refreshing as some professionals tend to use acronyms and you have to keep asking what they meant. After advising me on the specific problem I had and what I needed to do, he asked if there was any other issues with the house I wiuld like him to look at while he was there. His report was precise and clear and his service reasonably priced. Communication wise, he could be contacted by phone and email which was useful when sending photos of the floor. He was also available to ask questions after his job was done. David was friendly, precise, helpful and I would definitely recommend him.

David attended within a very short time frame and carried out the examination of the property. He was thorough throughout the examination and identified a problem which I needed to address as a matter of some urgency. Simple search. Details of suitable local suppliers provided quickly and backed up with an email. I contacted David for some advice regarding cracked brickwork above some French doors, suspecting that perhaps the lintel above the doors had failed. He answered the phone immediately and seemed friendly and approachable. After a subsequent exchange of emails we were able to arrange a suitable for time for David to visit my home to carry out the inspection, which took place approximately 1 week after the initial phone call. David arrived promptly on the day of the inspection and carried out a thorough inspection of both the internal and external walls of the property, taking time to explain to me what he was looking for and what he thought the root cause of my problem was. He provided verbal recommendations upon completion of the inspection, and also created a written report which I received by email a few days later. Thankfully the remedial work required is relatively minor! In summary, I was extremely satisfied with David's professionalism and down-to-earth approach, the ease of communication between us, and the transparency that he provided during his inspection and in the subsequent report that he provided. I would not hesitate to use again.

The surveyor was very explicit but in a way that was easy for me to understand as a lay person. He provided an extremely detailed survey at what I am told was a very reasonable cost, I would have no doubt about recommending him to others.
Professionalism :  Extremely professional but in no way aloof. He was approachable and showed great integrity, and his findings made me decide to walk away from what was to have been our dream house, but could have become a nightmare in the future all too easily.

They came very promptly, listened carefully to the problem I had regarding inaccurate/incomplete information held by insurance broker. His report has enabled me to remove the blight on my property with regard to alleged subsidence and I now have cover for that included in my policy. I am. of course, very pleased.

The website was easy to use - happened upon it when searching for building surveyors - had responses straight away and a surveyor was able to visit the property on that day. Only criticism is that it would be great if this website was the first entry following a google search. Spent some time calling large companies listed first and they were more expensive and would have taken longer to visit the property. I placed an order with David Preston. David was fabulous - not only did I receive a full detailed report promptly he actually visited the property on the day of my request! One of the best things was that I able to call him to ask questions. He was easy to work with and very easy to contact - he always picked up his mobile! He was also happy to liaise with my bank's surveyors - I can't recommend him highly enough!
