The website was very easy to use. We did provide comprehensive details of the property we wished to have surveyed, and got several very useful responses from both local and national firms. We received a prompt and comprehensive response to our initial enquiry, and the same when Neil at MHIS did the actual survey. The survey itself was over 100 pages of reading, but was very thorough, straightforward, easily understood and in simple to read language with all technical terms properly and fully explained with many pictures to illustrate the issues and points made. The survey itself had really good quality photographs to illustrate the problems discovered with the property. Neil followed up, the same morning with very useful answers to, the few questions we had after receiving the extensive survey report. We have received information which could end up preventing us making a serious mistake, and which has put us in a strong position to negotiate a price reduction. We chose Neil at MHIS because of the level of detail in his email response to our enquiry, and a desire to support local businesses. In his email, Neil demonstrated how because MHIS are local, they had more knowledge of the South Manchester market,. He also clearly explained why the property we were buying should probably have the slightly more expensive Buildings Survey rather than the House Buyer's Survey. The cost of the Buildings Survey turned out to have the lowest price by some way, of those we received from surveyors who responded to our request for a quote. MHIS have a very clear and comprehensive web site - buyers can clearly see the particulars and level of detail that each type of survey will provide. It could provide better linkages on the actual website to the downloads of sample surveys. It might also be useful, particularly for local home buyers to have a website page of indicative prices. As said above, MHIS did turn out to be the lowest price, yet we received a great level of service from them.
