Promptness of response :  I wasn't contacted by this company. However as they came up in the list, I did some research for myself and found multiple positive reviews for them. I made contact, got a very quick response.
Quality of service :  Chamberlains quoted a brilliant price for what I needed (half of what most others were quoting), made an appointment which was on time, swift and yet thorough. I couldn't recommend them more. Really impressed.
Value for money :  Knew exactly what I needed and quoted me an exceptional price for what transpired to be an exceptional service.
Professionalism :  Regular contact and communication was always speedy. Everything clear and straightforward. Stewart Sherman was friendly, polite and did his job quickly and put my mind at ease. Highly recommended.

Value for money :  They are a local company and were very competitively priced compared to other companies (particularly the one recommended by the Estate Agent)
Professionalism :  Had very little contact. On first call they were very clear about price and timescale. The survey came through very quickly by email once completed followed by hard copy very soon afterwards. Very happy with the overall service.

I chose Chamberlains because although they were a further distance away and not local and I was concerned about them not having local knowledge, they were able to fit me in a bit quicker than other companies. So its not just price that makes your decision its availability as well which will be a deciding factor when you need to be acting promptly if you are trying to buy a house and not hold up the chain. In the end local knowledge wasnt needed as I wasnt really concerned about the valuation I was more concerned about its condition which a surveyor who doesnt have local knowledge about prices can still do.
